IDC Predicts WP7 to Get No. 2 Spot by 2015

According to the IDC (International Data Corporation), the world renowned global survey and research company, the Windows Phone 7 (Microsofts infant mobile operating system) will likely dominate the marathon race for the best OS by 2015. IDC apparently released a report recently describing the companys vision for the future and it sure is interesting. Based on the report, IDC sees global smartphone shipments climbing up to 450 million units this year. Furthermore, with Nokias helping hand, IDC is predicting that the WP7 platform could likely surpass RIMs BlackBerry and Apples iOS by 2015 in the number two spot. Ramon Llamas, a senior research analyst from IDC said, Up until the launch of Windows Phone 7 last year, Microsoft has steadily lost market share while other operating systems have brought forth new and appealing experiences. The new alliance brings together Nokias hardware capabilities and Windows Phones differentiated platform. We expect the first devices to launch in 2012. By 2015, IDC expects Windows Phone to be number 2 operating system worldwide behind Android.
