HTC Droid Incredible Reaches End of Life

Last year a Verizon document leaked saying 3/31 will be the End of life for the HTC Droid Incredible. Now the mentioned date is upon us, and its the right time to analyze what way the flagman has passed.

The HTC Droid Incredible is equipped with a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen. At that time there was another high-end smartphone with AMOLED display, the Samsung Galaxy S. But the company didnt predict those displays would succeed, and the shortage of screens made HTC delay the launch of the Droid Incredible. So Verizon decided to please its customers who had been waiting for the device for so long, and offered to change their Incredible with the Motorola Droid X with no charge. Then, after the replacements were made, the phones AMOLED screens were replaced by Sony Super LCD screens. I guess this was one of the biggest mistakes of Samsung: The company couldnt provide the needed number of AMOLED displays and packed all produced units in its 4 Galaxy smartphones with different names.

Currently Big Red is going to bury the Droid Incredible and yield positions to its successor, the HTC Droid Incredible 2 (aka HTC Incredible S). It sports a 1GHz processor with the same chip we could find in the HTC Thunderbolt, but this one boasts a 4-inch WVGA, TFT screen avoiding troubles. Unlike its predecessor, the Incredible 2 has an 8MP camera, but both smartphones cameras have got dual-LED flashes.

Though it is not gladsome news for the Droid line lovers, but we have what we have, and the only thing we can do now is to say goodbye to the HTC Droid Incredible and welcome its elder brother.
