The HTC Merge has leaked quite a while ago. First there were rumors that the device would be hitting the Verizon store, but this didnt happen. Soon after the rumors moved to Alltel local carrier. Now we are getting more info about the device and the possible carrier, going back to the Verizon option.
Android Market has just started to offer VZ Navigator for the Merge Application. The application itself is a typical feature for all of the Verizon gadgets, but the fact that theres a specific version for the HTC Merge gives an idea that finally we got a chance to learn about the carrier of the smartphone. Next to this application theres just another app coming soon to the HTC Merge. This time it is IndyCar Mobile. On the corresponding page of the application in the Android Market you can see the HTC Merge in the list of the gadgets that will receive the feature shortly.
The first application is already available starting today. What is the app for? Well, lets have a look at the official statement from Android Market:
Get more from your GPS than just the basics premium voice navigation and 3D maps with traffic-aware routing and spoken incident alerts. PLUS: movie & event info, gas prices, local and voice search.
The price of the application is $9.99 if you get it separately; but if you have Google Maps, you will get a no-fee service. If you are not the HTC Merge potential buyer, you can still get your device version app while searching for VZ Nav.
