GOOGLE EBOOKS STORE IS NOW LIVE

before rumors MAC APP STORE LAUNCH DECEMBER 13TH, Google has just unveiled new eBooks Store that brings library of over 3 million eBooks readable using Web Reader, free Apps for Android as well as iOS and even on Nook as well as Sony Reader. Google eBooks is available only to US Citizens as of now and users can browse through over 3 million book titles. As of now, Google didn't announce any plans to make eBooks available outside US.

Google eBooks can be read online using the Web Reader and users can even store their online purchases in their Web Reader account that requires a Google Account. Just like the iBooks Store of Apple, the Google eBooks Store will let users buy eBooks and store them on respective locations - Web, Mobile device or tablet.

Google Android and Apple iOS mobile operating system platforms will get free Google eBooks App. Now I wonder if Google will add Web Reader link in the official Google App for iPhone just in case one wants to enjoy eBooks on HTML5 based mobile web interface in mobile Safari of iPhone, iPod touch or even iPad. The eBooks App for Android and iOS will have features like text size adjustment, typeface and line space adjustments.

Google claims to have digitized more than 15 million books from more than 35,000 publishers, more than 40 libraries, and more than 100 countries in more than 400 languages. That's great but the US-only offering at the moment will certainly disappoint several users across the globe.
