iPad backup session failed

I try to restore my iPad after the update to OS 4.2 on a Windows 7 computer. Then I get the following error:iTunes could not restore the iPad because the backup session failed.I have tried older backups and none of them work. After I change the time zone settings to any different time setting, I am able to backup witn no problems. The fix is so stupid.
